The Holiday Helpers is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that was created to assists low income Rochester Hills residents (both seniors and families) with a special reminders that they are remembered at Christmas.

Even though Rochester Hills is a very affluent community, we still have seniors and some families that are in a tough spot at times and need that extra helping hand. Although we often run press releases about upcoming events and even show up at council a time or two, we stay pretty much silent – the reason? Our families don’t know who we are or why they are the recipient. Most of our families come through trusted organizations, family, friends or neighbors. We don’t ask why – we never tell who. What sets us a part from all the other charities in our area, is that we do everything in costume and never, ever tell who we are. You will never see a delivery from us without the costume or saying a word about where this basket came from. We respect our families pride. We respect their need for personal information not to be disclosed. We respect our own neighbors in Rochester Hills with the same dignity and kindness that should be shown in each and every city for their residents. Thus creating The Holiday Helpers of Rochester Hills.

We have a lot of fun – who wouldn’t with Santa Claus sitting beside you – and we help those who need a little helping hand. Some of our families get on their feet and call and say: My family was helped last year by someone in costume when we were in trouble, now we are on our feet and we would like to help someone else. What a wonderful feeling it is to take them off the list for the next year and gladly accept their assistance to help someone else.

We continue throughout the year to provide anything that someone needs. If they need a couch or a stove or whatever, we put the word out and most likely will come up with not just one, but two or three.

In addition to our Holiday assistance, we provide information about other area assistance programs. Many residents do not know where to turn for financial assistance or clothes for example, things that we do not provide. There are many wonderful groups that service Rochester Hills that many people are unaware of. This packet of information will help those who do need that other kind of help.

There is nothing more gratifying than to see a senior or a child or a single mom open the door to a weeks worth of food and gifts for under the tree at Christmas. We have many, many wonderful residents in Rochester Hills who open their hearts to us throughout the year. This includes our own wonderful city staff who continue to astound us each and every year, our dedicated Sheriff and Fire departments who are there for us continuously throughout the year and mostly our own neighbors who donate and spend their own time helping those neighbors they do not even know.
